Six More Days

We are in the process of buying a house, which in itself is an exhausting process, and are getting down to final days of providing endless streams of data upon demand  for the mortgage company--aka "Big Brother"    I think we have every infinite detail done, and got to meet the  present owners yesterday.  They are a retired couple and Dan was a commander in the Navy and flew jets.   They moved extensively during his career and are settling in Austin, TX.    Linda bought some furniture and fixtures and I worked on figuring out where all the mechanical stuff was located and how it worked--guy stuff.

I am finally getting the excitement cranked up a little, I think we have everything covered and nothing can happen to kill the deal.  We laid out how our bedroom would be situated and finalized which room would be the spare bedroom, master suite and guest bedroom.   We are anxious to get some of our stuff in the house and see how much room we actually have to work with.    The current owners have every nook and cranny filled with small cupboards and chests and the space is very full.

Since we are moving around the Holidays, I think we will put up the Christmas tree immediately and worry about what the regular layout will look like in January.  Kinda  different way to do it, but I think is better than arranging everthing and the next day setting up for Christmas. The Christmas mode is an extensive process and the kids will be coming this year, so we need it to be right.    We will have two fireplace mantles to put up our "LEON" stocking hangers.  Noel would be Leon spelled backwards.   We may have a double Leon if we are not careful.

I have been staying busy at the gym with some 8 mile/minute work outs on the treadmills. I can do a 1 1/2 miles stint without stopping if I feel good.    Today I did my heavy leg workout and will do some upper body tomorrow and probably run on Sunday.  I also see my man Geoff and get a massage.   I have been on a lot of planes lately and he can cure that neck stiffness very well.   So I am keeping busy, feel good and my weight is staying around 199.    I will be ready for deer week without having to make a special effort to get into 'up and down the hills' shape.

First Time Ever?

Things are just a little crazy with the chaos associated with the coronavirus and the global reaction.   Talking with my wife and brother, as well as the rest of the world that will still chat with you, nobody can remember anything quite like this situation.   The crash into the Twin Towers on 9-11 had some elements of the situation, but the total shutdown of sporting events, meetings, global travel and the run on water, sanitizer and toilet paper is just totally new to us.  The Master Indoors meet was cancelled this week, I was not planning on going this year.   I am in the middle of relocation from Nashville to Harper Ferry , West Virginia.  On March 31 we will close on the Brentwood house and close on the new place on April 2.   Getting this into place has been a real battle, but it is going to happen.    We are on our third contract for the Brentwood house and after trying to sell it for 9 or 10 months it will close this ...

Recovery. One More Time

It has been about 10 weeks since I pinched the nerve in my back causing the muscle control issue in my right quad.   I am seeing my chiro twice a week for treatment and we are gaining on the process--s. l. o. w  l.  y.   I did visit my regular doctor who prescribed some steroids and also discussed some surgery technics.  I took the steroids and was superman for 4 days and but I wrote her a note about the other procedures and told her I would wait for Fall until thinking about that stuff.   I want to run out the chiro work first.   He said it could be up to 9 months for a full recovery and I got the time.    I am making progress, my lower leg buzzy feeling on my right side is basically gone.   But the quad control is still muted, with an occasional problem with my right leg just giving away for a split second and then I catch myself and keeping on trucking. Those occurrences are becoming less and less. ...

The Aging Process

As you get older, you understand the aging process from first hand knowledge, your body lets you know you are aging through its queues and hints.   Sometimes it is subtle and other times it is sudden.  On April 4, 2024 I received a  queue from my body concerning my back.      I had severe pain in my right leg and lost about half of the strength and function in the leg--just like a door had shut.  Bam!  I could not really walk, had a miserable time getting comfortable and could not sleep worth a damn.   Life had changed very suddenly for me.    The message was delivered on a Friday and I got to my chiro-- a Cox Technique Chiro- on Monday and he started the procedure to decompress my L 4 vertebra which had a disk that had collapsed and was pinching a nerve causing the loss of muscle control and strength in my right outer leg.   Inner leg was good, as was my left leg.  I also have nerve related feelings i...
